Postcrossing GB-192241 from U.K.

Postcard Delight presents this postcard of a British historic barque, a type of sailing ship, named Cromdale wrecked in 1913, without loss of life, off the Lizard in thick fog while carrying nitrates from Chile. The Lizard is a peninsula, in south Cornwall jutting into the English Channel, with coast full of cliffs and underwater reefs which posed hazardous to shipping.

Quote at the back of this postcard

The Cromdale was wracked on the Lizard om 23rd May 1913. It was carrying nitrates when it ran aground. A gale a week later caused its total destruction."
